Vice President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Ubaidullah Azmi wrote a letter to the Board Chairman and expressed his views on many issues. Azmi said that history is witness, when Shariat and existence are attacked then it becomes mandatory to go to the public court. He said that the organized voices raised at the public level, democratic protests and the unity seen on the streets have a direct impact on the governments.
Azmi said that innocent Muslim children are being pressurized to sing Vande Mataram in educational institutions of states like Bengal. Vande Mataram is a serious attack on our faith in monotheism, it cannot be tolerated at any cost.
direct attack on sharia
He said that the implementation of Uniform Civil Code in a state like Uttarakhand and the ongoing preparation for it in the entire country is a direct attack on our Shariat. Azmi demanded that an emergency meeting of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board be called without any delay. I want to say in blunt words that now the time of mere formality, ceremonial statements and paperwork is completely over.
Judicial and legal battles
Azmi alleged that the process of encroachment and destruction on ‘Kamal Maula Masjid’ and other historical mosques and Waqf properties of Dhar is continuing. It is a matter of satisfaction and the nation also appreciates that the Board is fighting judicial and legal battles in these matters with full vigilance.
It would be careless to rely on the courts
But we have to accept the bitter truth that this storm of fascism cannot be stopped only by legal proceedings taking place behind closed doors. In the current circumstances, when many pillars of the system appear to be under pressure, relying solely on the courts would be criminal negligence.
