To take a resolution, the person doing puja and fasting should first take water in his hand. Then the flowers should be kept intact. After this, a resolution should be taken while meditating on Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is considered to be the ruler of the five elements of creation i.e. fire, earth, water, air and sky.
