
Ashadha Purnima 2026: There are many auspicious dates in Sanatan Dharma. One of these auspicious dates is the date of full moon. Purnima falls in Shukla Paksha of Har. This is considered a very sacred date in Sanatan Dharma. On this day, the tradition of bathing and donating in other holy rivers including Ganga has been going on since ancient times. There is a religious belief that bathing in holy rivers including Ganga and then donating on the day of full moon gives special virtuous results. The full moon falling in the month of Ashadha is considered very special.
It is known as Ashadh, Aashadhi and Guru Purmima. Since this Purnima is also called Guru Purnima, this day has been dedicated to the Guru Shishya tradition. On this day, along with bathing and donations, the Gurus are also worshiped with rituals. According to Drik Panchang, Ashadh Purnima is going to be celebrated on 29th July this year. Date of Ashadh Purnima (Ashadha Purnima 2026 Tithi)
- According to Drik Panchang, this year the full moon date of Ashadh month will start on July 28 at 06:18 pm.
- This date will end on July 29 at 08:05 pm.
In such a situation, in view of Udayatithi, this year Ashadh Purnima will be celebrated on 29th July. On this day, moonrise will occur at 07:21 in the evening.
Ashadh Purnima bathing and donation auspicious time (Ashadha Purnima 2026 Snan-Daan Muhurat)
On the day of Ashadh Purnima, the time from sunrise to noon will be very good for bathing and donating. On this day, Brahma Muhurta will start at 04:46 am. This auspicious time will last till 05:30 in the morning. It is also very auspicious to take full moon bath in Brahma Muhurta. On this day, Vijay Muhurta will start at 02:55 pm. This auspicious time will last till 03:47 pm. There will be no Abhijit Muhurta on Ashadh Purnima.
Significance of Ashadh Purnima (Guru Purnima)
Since this day is also celebrated as Guru Purnima, hence on this day, pay obeisance to your Gurus and take their blessings and if possible, give some Guru Dakshina also. By doing this the blessings of the Gurus remain intact. On this day, one gets virtuous results by worshiping Lord Vishnu, Veda Vyas and one’s teachers. Maharishi Ved Vyas Jayanti is also celebrated on the day of Ashadh Purnima.
