Ashadha Amavasya 2026: Amavasya Tithi has been given special importance in Sanatan Dharma. This date is considered very important for bathing and worship as well as for offering offerings to ancestors and Pind Daan. This date has been dedicated to the ancestors only. There is a religious belief that on this day, by performing ancestral rituals, charity and special measures, one gets the blessings of the ancestors. Amavasya of Ashadh month is about to come. It is also called Ashadhi Amavasya.

According to Drik Panchang, this year Amavasya of Ashadh month will be celebrated on Tuesday, 14th July. In the scriptures, Amavasya falling on Tuesday has been described as Bhaumvati Amavasya, hence this Amavasya of Ashadh is also being called Bhaumvati Amavasya. Auspicious time for worshiping ancestors on Ashadh Amavasya 2026

Abhijeet Muhurta on the day of Ashadh Amavasya will be best for worshiping ancestors. On this day, Abhijeet Muhurta will start at 12 noon and will last till 12.55 pm. At this time you should worship and offer prayers to your ancestors. On this day, the auspicious time of evening puja will start at 07:21 in the evening. This auspicious time of puja will last till 08:22 in the night.

It will be auspicious to take bath and donation on this day only in Brahma Muhurta. On this day, the auspicious time for bathing and donating will start at 04.11 am and will last till 04.52 am.

Worship method of Ashadh Amavasya

  • On Ashadh Amavasya, take bath in any holy river, lake or pond during Brahma Muhurta. If this is not possible, then mix Ganga water in household water and take bath.
  • After this, mix water, red flowers and sandalwood in a copper vessel and offer Arghya to the Sun God.
  • Then face the south direction and offer water, black sesame seeds, kush and flowers to the ancestors.
  • After this, donate food, clothes, fruits or umbrella to a Brahmin or a needy person as per your devotion.
  • Be sure to light a mustard oil lamp under the Peepal tree in the evening.
