The actor told that the makers of ‘Ramayanam’ wanted the film to have a connection with Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana serial, for which they wanted his face as Dasharatha. Arun told that he did not want to play this role, but due to the insistence of the director, he agreed to it. The actor said, ‘Yes, in ‘Ramayanam’ I am playing the role of King Dashrath, father of Lord Ram. If I felt it was not right, I would not have done this role, to be honest, in the beginning I did not want to do this role.

Revealing the reason for this, the actor said that years ago he was offered to play the role of Laxman in a film, but he was against it. But due to the insistence of the makers, he appeared in the role of Laxman and that film did badly at the box office. Talking about ‘Ramayanam’, Arun Govil has described Ranbir Kapoor, who played the role of Lord Ram in the film, as a good actor.
