
Army’s MI-17 helicopter crashed shortly after take off in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan. All the army personnel aboard the helicopter died in the accident. It is being told that this accident happened due to technical fault or mechanical fault. After the incident, Pakistan Army has started relief work.
Pakistan Army’s Mi-17 helicopter took off in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday. But soon after takeoff it lost control and crashed. Initial reports do not indicate any survivors, although there has been no official confirmation from the authorities yet. After the incident, relief and rescue teams have been sent to the spot. Investigation has been started to find out the cause of the accident. At present, a Board of Inquiry has been constituted to investigate this accident.
All the soldiers were killed, Army Chief Munir expressed grief
ISPR said in a statement that all the people on board the helicopter were martyred. No one survived. There were about 21 army personnel in the helicopter. The statement also said that rescue and recovery teams immediately reached the accident site. The ISPR said the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and all ranks of the Army “deeply condole the tragic loss of precious lives and extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has directed an investigation.”
Mi-17 Russian-made transport helicopter
Mi-17 is a medium capacity transport helicopter manufactured in Russia. This helicopter is capable of carrying 30 soldiers, 12 stretchers or about 4,000 kg of goods at a time. Apart from this, with the help of external sling it can also lift a load of up to three tonnes. At the same time, Pakistan COAS and CDF have expressed grief over this accident. He said that officers of all ranks of Pakistan Army deeply condole the tragic loss of precious lives and express their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
