
Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth made a three-day visit to Northern Command from 7 to 9 July. This was his first Northern Command visit after becoming Army Chief. During this, he reviewed the security situation, operational preparedness and combat capability of the army in Jammu and Kashmir. He visited several military bases and forward areas including Srinagar, Kupwara, Uri, Manasbal, Poonch, Rajouri and Sunderbani.
In Srinagar, the Army Chief was informed about the operational preparations of the Northern Command and Chinar Corps. He also met the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and discussed issues related to security, peace and mutual coordination. At Chinar Corps Headquarters, General Dheeraj Seth reviewed anti-terrorism operations, security arrangements, coordination between other agencies and security preparations for the Amarnath Yatra. He also emphasized on adopting new technologies in the army and increasing operational capability.

Which places did the Army Chief reach?
In Kupwara, Uri and Manasbal, the Army Chief took stock of the security, surveillance system, field innovation and anti-terrorism grid of the LOC. He met the soldiers and appreciated their courage, dedication and professional working style. During the visit, the Army Chief also saw an exhibition of indigenous defense technologies and innovations. He said that to deal with future challenges, the army will have to rapidly adopt new technologies.
After this, General Dheeraj Seth visited the White Knight Corps Headquarters and the forward areas of LOC in Poonch, Rajouri and Sunderbani sectors. Here he reviewed the security situation on the border, anti-terrorism grid, infrastructure development and operational preparedness of the army.
Took stock of development activities
The Army Chief also took stock of the ongoing public welfare and development related activities in the first villages of India along the border. He appreciated the Army’s engagement with the local people and the role of soldiers in nation building. At the end of the visit, General Dheeraj Seth praised all the soldiers of the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and said that they should always be fully prepared with the spirit of ‘Nation First’ and continue to perform excellently keeping in mind the goal of ‘Developed India 2047’.
