
In Manipur, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles have destroyed the hideouts of the militant organization by conducting a joint operation. In this action, one militant was killed, while many of his comrades escaped taking advantage of the forests. Security forces launched the operation on 16 June 2026 in a remote area of Henglep sub-division of Churachandpur district. Intelligence was received that militants of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) were active in the area.
Despite the difficult hilly terrain and bad weather, the Army and Assam Rifles team jointly conducted the operation. When the soldiers reached near the hideout of the militants, firing started from both sides. One militant was killed in the encounter, while the other militants fled from the spot. After this, the security forces conducted a search operation in the entire area and destroyed strong bunkers and hideouts built by the militants.
Militant network suffered a big blow
A large quantity of arms, ammunition and war material was also recovered during the operation. Security forces said that this action has dealt a major blow to the militant network and is an important step towards restoring peace and normalcy in the area. According to the Defense Ministry, the operation was carried out despite difficult terrain and bad weather, based on accurate intelligence about the movements of members of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA).

In this fierce firing, one militant was killed, while the rest of the militants managed to escape. In the search operation conducted thereafter, strong bunkers were destroyed and a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and war-related material was recovered. By destroying the infrastructure of the militants, the security forces have further strengthened their resolve to restore peace and normalcy.
