Shah Rukh Khan Deewana Trivia: It has been 34 years since Shahrukh Khan, known as the King of Bollywood, entered Hindi cinema. ‘Deewana’ released on 25 June 1992 was his debut film. However, the first choice for this film with Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti was not Shahrukh but Armaan Kohli. However, due to some reason Armaan left this film. After Armaan Kohli’s separation from the film, ‘Deewana’ producer Guddu Dhanoa was worried as to who should be cast now. After that Shekhar Kapur suggested him the name of Shahrukh.
Guddu Dhanoa in an interview given to News9 Digital Shahrukh Khan Have talked about casting. He said, “After Armaan left the film, I was not able to understand who to cast. Shekhar Kapoor said take Shahrukh Khan. I asked him who Shahrukh Khan? He said the new boy from ‘Fauji’. I had seen that TV show, but I did not remember Shahrukh’s face. I was in Madras at that time. After returning from there, I called Shahrukh. He called me to meet him in Delhi. I and Raj Kanwar (director) went to Delhi. There. We met him at a restaurant in Connaught Place. I asked him if he was Shahrukh and I said, ‘Fauji’ and ‘Circus’ TV shows.
Shahrukh Khan was doing five films
Guddu Dhanoa further told that when he told Shahrukh about the film, Shahrukh said that he does not have dates yet. He said that he is currently doing five films. ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’, ‘Dil Aashna Hai’, ‘Chamatkar’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’ and ‘King Uncle’. When Guddi Dhano once asked Shahrukh to listen to the story of the film, Shahrukh called him to meet him at his house the next day.
Shahrukh wanted to work with Rishi Kapoor
Next day Guddu Dhanoa reached his house. The first half of the film was narrated to him, but Shahrukh’s character was not there in the first half. After lunch, narration of the second half took place. After that Shahrukh said that Guddu I am doing your film. This is a good subject and I want to work with Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor). I like him a lot.

Signing amount of Rs 11 thousand
Guddu Dhanuo told, “Shah Rukh told me that he will be able to give me a date only when the dates of some other film get cancelled. I gave him Rs 8,000 in cash and a check of Rs 3,000 as signing amount. Total Rs 11,000. After a few days, he called and told me that his schedule has been canceled and he has 20 days free. He asked when we can shoot. I told him that we can start shooting from the very next day.” We started shooting soon and completed the 20-day schedule with Shahrukh.”
