How to stop ChatGPT from using data
If you’re a regular ChatGPT user, you can disable model training in a few steps.
- First step: Sign in to ChatGPT account.

- Third step: Open the Settings option.
- Fourth step: Select the Data Controls option.
- Fifth step: Turn off Improve the Model for Everyone.
Once disabled, your further conversations will not be used to improve OpenAI’s models. If you want to delete past chats as well, go to the Data Controls section and select the option to delete your chat history.
How to Disable AI Training in Google Gemini
To limit data collection, changes will have to be made at two places in Google.
- First step: Turn off web and app activity
- Second step: Go to myactivity.google.com.
- Third step: Open Web & App Activity.
- Fourth step: Turn off settings. This prevents new searches, app activity and related information from being saved for AI training.
However, this does not erase existing data. To delete old activity, use the delete option and select a time range.
- First step: Close Gemini Activity.
- Second step: Open Gemini and sign in.
- Third step: Select the Activity option.
- Fourth step: Turn off the setting. You can also delete your previous Gemini conversations from the same section.
