June 13, 2026 by Uma Shankar

After the defeat of Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Trinamool Parliamentary Party is on the verge of collapse in the Lok Sabha. 19 Trinamool Congress MPs have rebelled and presented their claim before the Speaker to form a separate faction. Now senior TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay has also joined the rebel camp. The Kolkata North MP was seen in a car with rebel MP Shatabdi Roy in Delhi on Saturday. He reached the house of BJP leader and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav from Delhi Airport along with Shatabdi Roy in his own car and The meeting has started there.

It is noteworthy that in the last few days, rebel Trinamool MPs have held several rounds of meetings at the Union Minister’s house. Trinamool Congress This rebel camp is being led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and Shatabdi Roy of Barasat. In such a situation, Shatabdi Roy going to the Union Minister’s house in the same car with Sudip Bandyopadhyay tells the story itself.

Sudeep Bandyopadhyay left for Delhi from Kolkata on Saturday morning. Shatabdi Roy also left for Delhi on the same flight. After landing, Sudeep Bandyopadhyay left the Delhi airport in the same car with the rebel MP from Birbhum and a meeting is going on in Bhupendra Yadav’s house.

19 TMC MPs rebelled

There is turmoil in Trinamool Congress since the assembly elections in the state. The legislature party in the assembly has gone out of the hands of party leader Mamata Banerjee. Last Monday, divisions in the parliamentary party were clearly visible in the Lok Sabha also. Most of the party MPs went out of Mamata’s control.

Rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh DastidarClaimed that he has the support of about 20 MPs. They want to support BJP’s ruling alliance NDA at the Centre. Meanwhile, on Friday, a document bearing signatures of many people came to light. It had signatures of 19 Trinamool Congress MPs. However, there was no signature of Sudip Bandyopadhyay on it. Meanwhile, on Saturday he went to the house of Bhupendra Yadav along with the Trinamool Congress MP from Kolkata North. A meeting of rebel MPs is going to be held in Delhi on Sunday in the presence of CM Shubhendu Adhikari. On Monday, these rebel MPs will meet the Speaker and demand the formation of a separate group.

Will Sudip Bandyopadhyay be the party leader?

After reaching Delhi on Saturday, Sudip Bandyopadhyay went straight to the Union Minister’s house. Shatabdi Roy was with him. Let us tell you that after Saugata Roy, Sudip Bandyopadhyay is currently the senior most leader of TMC in the Lok Sabha. He was holding the post of party leader in the Lok Sabha for a long time.

Recently, he was removed from the post of leader in Lok Sabha and Abhishek Banerjee was made the party leader. Since then the question was arising whether Sudeep would distance himself from the party? Although he did not do so then. According to sources, the angry MPs said that now if the North Kolkata MP joins the rebel party, he can be made the leader of the party.

Sudeep’s departure is a big blow for Mamta

However, Sudip Bandyopadhyay’s departure is a big blow. When Mamata Banerjee left Congress and formed her own party, Sudeep was one of the leaders who came with her, but later, Mamata Banerjee’s relations with him deteriorated. Sudeep Bandyopadhyay had claimed that at that time Sudeep was given ministry in the Vajpayee cabinet. However, Mamta’s claim was different and controversy arose over it. Then in 2004, Sudeep left Trinamool, although he returned to Trinamool Congress.

Then, when there was a stir within the Trinamool Congress to leave the party, Sudeep’s wife Nayana was seen with Mamata. Recently, Nayana was also with the Trinamool supremo during Mamata Banerjee’s protest program. Mamta also gave Nayana the post of deputy leader. Now if Sudip Bandyopadhyay leaves the party then Nayana will also leave the party. This is likely to cause a double blow to TMC.
