According to Dawn newspaper, as soon as the Parliament proceedings began, opposition MPs raised the issue of deportation of 2000 Pakistanis from UAE. The MPs said that these people were first tortured by the UAE. After this they were sent back. Their goods and money have also been confiscated.
Why are Pakistanis being expelled from UAE?
1. According to the Government of Pakistan, 1 lakh 64 thousand Pakistanis have been forcibly deported from Arab countries in the last 5 years. Of these, about 1 lakh Pakistanis have been deported from Saudi Arabia and about 64 thousand from UAE.
2. The Foreign Department of the Government of Pakistan told in the Parliament that the people who have been deported from UAE. There were criminal cases against him. Some people had come to UAE to beg, so they were chased away. 20 lakh Pakistanis are still working in UAE.
3. The New York Times had made a report on May 8. It was said that people of Shia community of Pakistan who are working in UAE are being driven away from Abu Dhabi. UAE is taking this step due to fear of espionage.
4. 20 lakh workers from Pakistan are working in UAE. Those who earn and send 8 billion dollars to Islamabad every year. This is giving wings to the development of Pakistan. UAE wants its workforce to be reduced.
Why is UAE angry with Pakistan?
Till now the United Arab Emirates was considered an ally of Pakistan, but the way Pakistan took its stand in the Iran war spoiled the relations between the two. UAE is angry with Pakistan for 2 reasons. Firstly, Pakistan provided military aid to Saudi Arabia during the war, while did not take any stand for UAE.
The second reason is Pakistan’s mediation efforts. When Pakistan took the initiative to establish ceasefire, it did not make any contact with UAE. UAE was displeased with this. He immediately asked Pakistan to return the loan. Pakistan has repaid the debt of UAE with the help of Saudi.
