
Google has started rolling out Android 17 Update. It includes many updates focusing on multitasking, privacy, gaming, performance and security. This new OS update of Android will be available first to the users running Pixel phones, for the rest of the Android smartphones the update will be rolled out gradually in phases.
With this update, your phone will change a lot, according to the new changes, there will be changes in the way you interact with apps, manage device security and use large screen devices like foldables and tablets. It has also been hinted that select premium devices will also get Gemini powered intelligence features later this year.
Improve multitasking with bubbles
The capability of the bubbles feature has been increased in Android 17. Now users can long-press an app icon to turn it into a floating window that stays on top of other apps. This allows users to access content like maps, videos or notes without leaving their current work. A special bubble bar has been added at the bottom of the screen in Android 17 for tablets and foldable devices. With the help of this feature, users can switch between apps, change the size of floating windows and expand them to full-screen mode with a single tap.
Reaction video feature in screen recording
Google has updated the screen recording interface with a newly designed toolbar and layout. Screen reaction feature has also been included in Android 17, through which users can also record video from the front camera while recording the screen. This feature makes it possible to create reaction videos directly on the device without the need for separate editing tools or additional software.
New features for foldable gaming
Android 17 has a foldable gaming mode for compatible foldable smartphones. The feature uses a 50:50 split-screen layout, placing gameplay on the top half of the display and virtual controls on the bottom half.
This update also provides support for native controller remapping for external gaming controllers. Google says that improvements made in memory management in the new operating system can help reduce frame drops and improve gaming performance.
Improvement in privacy-security, also new features
Special attention has been paid to security in Android 17. Now you will get Mark as lost option in Find Hub, through which users will be able to lock the lost phone using biometric authentication. With this, no one will be able to use the phone without permission, even if that person knows the passcode of your device.
Apart from this, some new features have also been added, such as sharing precise location for some time, stronger PIN protection and sharing of selected contacts. Google has also improved Live Threat Detection and Advanced Protection features to detect suspicious apps and potential threats.
