Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) got a big boost for its electric mobility initiative when Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani announced the donation of 25 electric buses worth ₹27.5 crore. Along with this, he also supported the cooperation of bus drivers and establishment of EV charging infrastructure. This announcement is the largest single private contribution so far towards TTD’s years-long electrification initiative.
Anant Ambani visited the Tirupati temple, where she was dressed in simple white traditional attire, consisting of a dhoti and a white shawl with a golden zari border. He offered his hair as part of the temple’s long-standing Mundan tradition. He attended the morning Good Morning Service and had darshan of the Lord before the traditional Mundan ceremony. This tradition is followed by lakhs of devotees who visit the temple every year.

After the prayer he made a significant contribution, notable not only because of its scale, 25 buses worth ₹1.1 crore per bus, but also because of the extensive collaboration associated with it. Apart from the buses, Reliance will bear the salaries of 50 bus drivers and install EV charging stations on the temple premises, thereby addressing the two major challenges faced in expanding the electric bus fleet – trained manpower and charging infrastructure.
Anant Ambani also pledged to support the modernization of TTD’s cow shed on the lines of Gujarat-based Reliance’s ‘Vantara’ wildlife and animal conservation initiative.
