After gaining political lead in West Bengal, now BJP’s entire focus is visible on Punjab. There is still time for the 2027 assembly elections, but BJP has already put in its full strength on both the organizational and strategy fronts. Party’s national president Nitin Nabin’s visit to Punjab, Amit Shah’s direct monitoring and aggressive preparation of election issues have made it clear that Punjab has now become the next big political mission for BJP.
This is going to be the first big conch sound of BJP’s election preparations in Punjab. Party’s national president Nitin Nabin will be on a tour of Punjab from 20 to 22 June. Along with paying obeisance at the Golden Temple of Amritsar, he will review the organization and hold marathon meetings with leaders and workers from district to state level. But the real strategy behind this tour is being prepared in Delhi. According to sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself has taken charge of the Punjab elections. Shah is constantly taking direct feedback from the Punjab unit and a roadmap is being prepared to strengthen the organization up to the booth level.
This time BJP’s focus is on these areas
This time BJP’s focus is on those areas where earlier its presence was limited. In the next one and a half years, a target has been set to increase the reach of booth committees, mandal units and new social groups. The party believes that it is not possible to start preparing the political ground in Punjab without strengthening the organization. On the other hand, BJP’s claim of contesting the elections alone is not only a show of confidence but can also be a strategy to put pressure on Shiromani Akali Dal. The message is clear that BJP wants to create a strong position at the negotiating table by keeping its options open.
Complete script of election issues also ready
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Hardeep Singh Puri said that BJP is not only setting up the organization but is also preparing the entire script of the election issues. According to sources, this time the party will make the decisive fight against drugs in Punjab the biggest election issue. Preparations are underway to launch an aggressive campaign against the drug problem affecting the youth. Apart from this, alleged illegal conversions, security and development of areas bordering Pakistan, and direct reach out to Dalit and Sikh voters will also be an important part of BJP’s strategy.
Important responsibility handed over to Sandeep Pathak
To implement this strategy, the party has recently entrusted the important responsibility to organization strategist Sandeep Pathak, who left Aam Aadmi Party and joined BJP. Sandeep Pathak, considered an expert in organizational expansion and preparing electoral networks, is now busy strengthening the organizational structure of BJP in Punjab. According to sources, the organization, social equations and election roadmap will be discussed in detail in the big meeting to be held around June 21.
AAP attacks BJP, Congress sees political opportunity
At the same time, the increasing activism of BJP has alerted the opposition also. Aam Aadmi Party is continuously attacking BJP, while Congress is also seeing political opportunity for itself this time. Both the parties realize that BJP has prepared for a long political battle in Punjab.
Overall, the electoral battle in Punjab may still be far away, but the political chessboard is already laid. With the help of Amit Shah’s direct monitoring, Nitin Naveen’s activism, new edge to the organization through Sandeep Pathak, Raghav Chadha, and issues like drug abuse, security, conversion, Dalit-Sikh outreach, BJP has blown the trumpet of Mission Punjab.
