America’s big step to attack Iran, B1 bomber deployed from UK base

July 23, 2026 by Uma Shankar

America has taken a major military step amid increasing tension with Iran. According to reports, the US Army has deployed a B-1 bomber capable of long-range attack from Britain’s RAF Fairford airbase. It is being told that this aircraft was used to attack the bases of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). After this step, tension in the Middle East has increased further. At the same time, Iran has clearly warned that if there is any further attack against it, it will be responded to under the policy of “an eye for an eye”.

According to officials, America has intensified its military campaign against Iran by flying B-1 bomber from Britain’s RAF Fairford airbase. This is considered to be the first major American mission started from UK during the tenure of the new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham. According to the report of Axios, this B-1 bomber was used to target the bases of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The B-1 is a long-range attack bomber of the US Air Force, which can carry up to 24 2,000-pound bombs simultaneously.

Permission granted to use the airbase

According to Bloomberg, Britain has given the US permission to continue using RAF Fairford and the Diego Garcia air base in the Indian Ocean for “defensive strikes”. However, differences have also emerged within the British government regarding this decision. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned Iran that if any ship is attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, America can target Iran’s important infrastructure, such as bridges and power plants.

On the other hand, there is news of two people dead and 11 injured in the American attack on Iraq’s Shalamcheh border crossing. After this, Iran has also adopted a tough stance. Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said Iran’s principle is “an eye for an eye” and any attack would be responded to forcefully. He also said that countries that helped in the attack would also be considered legitimate military targets. American officials say that fighter planes and bombers have been placed on high alert throughout the Middle East. At the same time, the US House of Representatives has also passed a $1.15 trillion defense policy bill, which will provide additional funds to the Pentagon and intelligence agencies. Meanwhile, the New York Times report claims that Iran’s retaliatory attacks have also caused damage to American bases. It is clear from this that instead of decreasing, the tension between the two countries is continuously increasing.
