American space agency NASA is preparing to build a permanent base for humans to live on the Moon. NASA has given information about the next phase of this plan. Under this, the agency will send robotic landers, drones and special vehicles to the moon. With the help of these machines, the lunar land will be studied and preparations will be made for human habitation in the future.
NASA is taking the help of many private companies in this mission. These include Blue Origin, Intuitive Machines and Astrobotic. Blue Origin is the company of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, which will build a special lunar lander named Endurance. America plans to land humans on the moon again before the end of President Donald Trump’s term, i.e. by 2029.
China’s challenge to America
In this mission of America, America is in direct competition with China. China is also preparing to send humans to the moon by 2030. Recently China launched its Shenzhou-23 mission and sent astronauts to Tiangong Space Station. It is clear from this that China is also moving forward rapidly in the space race.
In March 2026, NASA had announced a plan of about $20 billion. Under this, a permanent base running on nuclear and solar energy will be built on the south pole of the Moon. NASA chief Jared Isaacman said that America will not leave the moon again.
The near impossible is becoming possible.

NASA’s plan will be completed in three parts
In the first phase, robotic lander and drone will map the lunar surface and examine the land there. Such vehicles will also be sent which will help future astronauts to roam on the moon and carry goods. Astrobotic’s Griffin-1 lander will land in the Nobile crater near the south pole of the moon. These machines will also carry equipment with high-resolution cameras and laser technology, so that safe landing can be done.
NASA’s goal is to make 25 launches by 2029 and send about 4 metric tons of material to the Moon. After this, nuclear reactor and solar power system will be installed there. There is a plan to build semi-permanent houses for humans to live by 2032.
Why is the South Pole important?
The south pole of the Moon is considered important because there is a possibility of finding frozen ice there. Drinking water, oxygen and fuel can be prepared from this. However, many scientists say that it will not be easy to meet this deadline of NASA, because landing humans on the moon safely is still the biggest challenge.
