America-Iran peace agreement close, will the deal be signed today?

June 14, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The peace agreement to end the three-month long war between America and Iran is now considered almost ready. US President Donald Trump has said that both the countries can sign the peace agreement on Sunday. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also said that the agreement can be finalized in the next 24 hours, after which Iran and America will sign it electronically.

However, Iran has not yet confirmed that the agreement will be finalized on Sunday. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said that the agreement may not be reached on Sunday, although it is likely to happen in the coming days.

Iran will not make nuclear weapons: Trump

Trump claimed on his social media platform that Iran no longer wants to make nuclear weapons. He said that his government’s agreement would be such that it would completely prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Trump also said that as soon as the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened to ships of all countries.

Trump criticized former President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal, saying that his deal was taking Iran on the path to nuclear weapons, while the new deal would work to stop it. He also said that this time America will not make any cash payment to Iran.

What is proposed in the agreement?

According to the proposed agreement, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz and in return the US will lift its blockade of Iranian ports. After this, the work of removing the landmines laid in the sea route will begin. Help of G7 countries can also be taken in this process. Apart from this, America will gradually release Iran’s assets worth billions of dollars stuck abroad and will also give relief in some restrictions imposed on its oil exports.

A large part of the agreement is related to Iran’s nuclear program. There will be separate discussions on this for the next 60 days. America wants Iran to destroy its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and take it out of the country. At the same time, Iran says that it wants to keep uranium in less enriched form. Both the countries have come very close to the agreement, but there are still differences on some issues. Therefore, there is still a possibility of change in the terms of the final agreement.
