There is hope of a major breakthrough on Friday in the months-long tension between America and Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the two sides were “the closest they have ever been” to an agreement. At the same time, US President Donald Trump further promoted this matter by reposting his post on ‘Truth Social’. These statements of his have come at a time when expectations of an agreement have increased rapidly. Trump says that only the last paperwork remains before the agreement can be signed.
Referring to the proposed agreement, Araghchi wrote on X, Islamabad agreement is the closest so far. A few minutes later, Trump reposted the post on his ‘Truth Social’ account. This indicates that despite differences over the terms of the proposed agreement, negotiations are moving in the right direction.
America-Iran agreement near completion
Araghchi’s statement comes a day after Trump expressed confidence that the agreement is near completion. The US President said that Washington has just reached a major agreement on war with Iran and indicated that there are only a few steps left before the agreement is signed.
Trump told reporters, now only the documents remain to be finalized. This work should be completed in the next few days. On Friday, Araghchi urged media organizations and analysts to avoid speculating about the contents of the agreement until negotiations are completed.
Till it is finalized, the media should refrain from speculating about its contents, he wrote. The Iranian Foreign Minister also promised that details would be made public after the process is completed. In line with our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be shared with the public in due course.
Agreed on the terms of America-Iran agreement- Sharif
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also said that the US and Iran have agreed to the terms of a deal aimed at ending their fighting in the Middle East and mediators are working with both sides to finalize the agreement. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the US and Iran have reached a final, agreed text. He said that Pakistan, which has taken the initiative in mediation efforts, is working with these warring countries on the next steps.
Sharif said in a post on X, peace has never been closer than it is now. This important progress in talks has come after Iran traded fire with America and Israel for three days this week, which created the danger of a large-scale war in the Middle East.
Iranian media published 14-point memorandum
The Iranian Foreign Minister said this when Iranian media published information about the 14-point proposed agreement (Memorandum of Understanding). Trump reacted sharply and accused the Iranian media of misrepresenting the terms of the agreement.
In a post on ‘Truth Social’, he wrote that the information given has nothing to do with the terms that were agreed upon in writing. According to Mehr news agency, the proposed framework outlines measures to end the three-month-long conflict that has shaken global trade and energy markets, particularly tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. The stated plan includes easing of sanctions, access to Iran’s frozen assets and measures to reduce regional tensions.
