America has sold weapons to these countries since the start of the Iran war, what is America’s plan?

July 18, 2026 by Uma Shankar

After increased tensions with Iran and the recent military conflict, America has increased the pace of selling arms on a large scale to its allies in the Middle East. Ever since the war started, America has started its weapons plan. He is supplying weapons to one country after another. In this context, the US State Department has now approved the sale of weapons and military equipment worth about $2 billion to Saudi Arabia. Earlier, America has also approved defense deals worth billions of dollars for many countries including Israel, Qatar, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates. The purpose of these frequent arms deals is to counter Iran’s growing military influence, strengthen the security of America’s allies in the Gulf region, and maintain its strategic presence in the region.

Under America’s approval, Saudi Arabia will get a defense package of about $2 billion. This includes modern military equipment, weapon systems, technical assistance, training, spare parts and logistics support. The US administration says that this deal will increase the defense capability of Saudi Arabia and strengthen regional security. According to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, this sale will also strengthen US foreign policy and national security interests because Saudi Arabia has long been a major strategic partner of the US.

Which country got how much weapons after the Iran war?

After increasing tension with Iran, America has approved different defense packages to many countries.

  • In March 2026, the US approved an emergency military sale of $151.8 million to Israel. This included 1,000-pound bombs, associated military hardware, and other defense materials. This approval was given at a time when Israel was facing security challenges on many fronts.
  • Qatar got two big defense packages in May 2026. The first deal was worth about $4.01 billion, under which maintenance, technical support and upgrade of the Patriot missile defense system was approved. Apart from this, America also approved to provide APKWS to Qatar costing $992.4 million. It is a laser-guided precision strike weapon system, used to attack targets with high accuracy at low cost.
  • In the same month, America approved the sale of IBCS worth about $2.5 billion to Kuwait. It is a state-of-the-art command and control system, which increases the capability of various air defense systems by connecting them into a network.
  • In May itself, Israel was also given approval to sell APKWS weapon system worth $992.4 million. This deal will further strengthen Israel’s precision strike capability.
  • In May 2026, the US also approved the sale of APKWS weapons and related equipment worth $147.6 million to the UAE. Its objective is to enhance the UAE’s air defense and precision strike capability.

Why is America continuously selling weapons?

Many reasons are prominently visible behind this. First, in view of the tension with Iran and its missile and drone programs, America wants to increase the defense capability of its allies. Second, America wants the Gulf countries to have such military capability that they can face any possible regional conflict on their own. Third, through these defense deals, America also provides huge economic benefits to its defense industry. These billion-dollar agreements provide American defense companies with long-term orders for production, maintenance and technical services.

What can change the regional balance of power?

Due to continuous arms sales, military competition in West Asia is expected to intensify further. On one hand, America is equipping its allies with modern weapons, while Iran is also continuously strengthening its missile, drone and defense capabilities. This can start a new era of balance of power in the region. Amidst the ongoing tension regarding Iran in West Asia, this strategy of America clearly indicates that it is continuously emphasizing on strengthening the military capability of its traditional allies. If regional tensions persist in the coming times, the possibility of more such big defense deals cannot be ruled out.
