Tension between Iran and America has increased once again. America has started military action against Iran on Tuesday. These attacks were carried out in response to the downing of an American helicopter by Iran on Monday. These attacks were carried out on the orders of President Donald Trump. Due to which the ongoing peace talks between the two countries have suffered a major setback. Due to this step of America, tension in West Asia has increased once again.
In a post on social media, US Central Command CENTCOM said that in response to yesterday’s downing of a US Army Apache helicopter, US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces, on the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief, launched self-defense strikes against Iran at 5 pm today (ET). President Trump confirmed the attack and said that on Monday Iran had shot down a US military helicopter patrolling near Hormuz. There were two pilots in the helicopter, both were rescued safely and were not injured. Trump also gave information about their rescue in the post. Actually, an American Apache helicopter crashed in Hormuz on Tuesday night. US President Donald Trump claimed that this helicopter crashed due to Iranian attacks. However, both the pilots were rescued safely with the help of drones. After which Trump said that revenge will definitely be taken.
Here, according to American administration officials, the helicopter collided with an Iranian drone. It is not yet clear whether the collision was deliberately caused by Iran or it was an accident. Trump wrote on social media that America still needs to respond to this attack. Shortly after this, the US Army attacked many different targets in Iran. Trump said that the US military is attacking Iran after the downing of an American helicopter. He said that it was very important to respond. However, Iran rejected Trump’s claim of attack. Iran says that it has not shot down America’s Apache helicopter. Iran accused Trump of wanting to attack us by finding such excuses.
According to American media reports, several air defense and radar systems around Hormuz were targeted in the American attacks on Iran. It is reported that due to American attacks on Qeshm Island, six explosions were heard. It is believed that this attack was not carried out by a drone but by a fighter plane. According to Iran’s government media, the attack took place on Qeshm Island located in Hormuz and a projectile has been confirmed to have hit Sirik. Along with this, Bandar Abbas was also attacked. The sound of explosions was heard in the eastern areas of Hormozgan.
This incident could create new pressure on the ceasefire signed two months ago between America, Iran and regional powers. On Monday itself, there were reports of attack by Iran on Israel and in response to this, Israel took action on Hezbollah bases in Lebanon. This is believed to be the first major military confrontation in two months. This incident has increased the pressure on the two-month-old ceasefire.
Amidst the tension, the White House is continuously indicating that the possibility of a permanent peace agreement still remains. President Trump said on Monday that there is a good chance of an agreement being reached in the next two or three days. However, Iranian representatives say that recent actions by the US and the Trump administration do not indicate that Washington is actually interested in a ceasefire or talks. In such a situation, the situation in the area seems to be becoming more complex.
