
Imagine that a person who never studied film making or computers, who was first a train driver and later became a wedding photographer, did such a feat that he got a call straight from Hollywood. This is the unique story of 29-year-old Liu Jiyu (Liu Ziyu), who developed Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made a 3.5 minute short film named ‘Zombie Scavenger’ (Zombie Scavenger) Is. The cost of making this film was only 3,000 yuan (i.e. more than Rs 42,000). Liu spent all this money only on purchasing AI software and tokens.
‘Unique Love Story’ was ready in just 10 days
It took Liu only 10 days to make this amazing short film. This movie is based on Hollywood’s famous animated film ‘Wall-E’ (Wall-E) is inspired by. It depicts the love story between a robot and a doll. When it was released on Chinese social media platforms on May 9, people kept watching.
According to the report of South China Morning Post, Liu’s background is not related to films. He studied engineering from technical school. After this he worked as a train driver for 3 years. Then he left his job and became a wedding photographer. His parents asked him to make a video to promote their new hotel. It was from here that Liu started experimenting with AI video tools.
Liu says that the trick to making great videos with AI is very simple. Don’t give him direct prompts, rather explain the logic of the story. He said, my simple formula is activity, motivation and mood. I not only tell the AI what to do, but also tell why the character is doing what and in what mood.
Why did Hollywood directors go crazy?
This short film got recognition when it was noticed by Hollywood’s famous AI film maker PJ Accetturo. There is a scene in the film, where the robot is riding an ostrich like a cowboy, it has gone viral like wildfire on social media. PJ was so impressed with the Chinese man that he eulogized Liu and wrote on If anyone can find its director, please provide his link. I want to offer him a job. When the two came in contact with the help of X users, the Hollywood director offered Liu a job. But Liu politely refused to go abroad. He said that he wants to stay and work in China for now. Anyway he doesn’t know English. However, talks are ongoing between the two, and Liu is ready to work on Hollywood projects while staying in China in the future. According to the report, this short film has received more than 6 crore views worldwide. A Chinese film company has even bought its rights.
