Two countries of the world and three major earthquakes… On the night of June 24, two very rare events in geological history were recorded on Earth. That too within just 2 hours. Yes, we are talking about Venezuela and Japan. Strong earthquake tremors have been felt in both these countries. At one place (Venezuela) there was huge devastation while at another place (Japan) there was no loss of life or property. Both these incidents happened within just 2 hours. According to scientists, such amazing and rare events are seen only once in every 1000 to 1200 years.
2 major earthquakes in Venezuela in 40 seconds
It is a matter of relief that despite such a big coincidence, no major tsunami crisis occurred. Usually, when a big earthquake occurs, it is followed by smaller aftershocks. But this did not happen in Venezuela. There, two major earthquakes (magnitude 7.2 and 7.5) were felt back-to-back at an interval of just 40 seconds. In the language of science, when two major earthquakes of almost equal intensity occur at the same place, it is called ‘doublet earthquake’. This has caused huge devastation in Venezuela. Many buildings collapsed. Many have cracks. There is a possibility of thousands of deaths.
This happens only once in 1200 years!
Pretty rare earthquake activity tonight on Earth.
Both of these things happening within 2 hours of each other:
1 in 1,000 to 1,200 years
• A doublet earthquake in Venezuela (two quakes of similar magnitude in the exact same spot)
• A totally separate 6.9+ quake— Noah Bergren (@NbergWX) June 25, 2026
Declaration of emergency in Venezuela
Venezuela has suffered heavy damage after two major earthquakes. Emergency has been declared. It is considered to be the worst earthquake of the century. Initially, a tsunami alert was issued for Caribbean countries and Puerto Rico due to the possibility of high waves in the sea. But it was removed within an hour. Actually, the epicenter of the earthquake was underground, so no destructive wave arose in the sea. However, later a tsunami alert has been issued again.

6.9 magnitude earthquake in Japan
Within just 2 hours of the Venezuela incident, strong earthquakes were felt in the northern part of Japan (near Iwate and Aomori Prefecture). Its intensity was measured at 6.9 on the Richter scale. This earthquake was completely different from the Venezuelan incident and had no direct connection with it. The shock in Japan was so strong that it was difficult to even stand straight on the ground. But despite such a strong shock there was no loss of life or property. Japan Meteorological Agency said that there is no danger of tsunami. Apart from this, all the nuclear power plants present in the area are completely safe and no irregularities were found in them. Even after three major earthquakes in two countries of the world in such a short period of time, the sea remained calm. There was no major tsunami in the coastal areas. This is the biggest matter of relief.
