As part of the preparations for the Amarnath Yatra, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the deployment of 670 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). This is believed to be the largest deployment of paramilitary forces for the pilgrimage this year. According to sources, the deployment of these additional forces will be done in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir administration. This deployment will be completed before June 25, so that the security of the entire route can be ensured on both Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
The deployment includes base camps at Baltal and Nunawan, Yatri Niwas Jammu, Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Pathankot-Jammu Highway and other important areas frequently used by pilgrims. To strengthen security, special attention will be given to the deployment of ‘Road Opening Party’ (ROP).
Number of pilgrims will increase
At the same time, ‘Area Domination Patrol’ and regular monitoring will be increased on the Jammu-Srinagar Railway Corridor as well as on the Highway. This step is being taken in view of the increasing number of pilgrims who can travel by ‘Vande Bharat Express’ trains this time.
CAPF personnel will be deployed along the entire pilgrimage route, starting from Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir, to the Amarnath cave shrine. The Indian Army will also play an important role by securing the pilgrimage routes and strategic heights around the holy cave shrine.
Yatri Niwas will open on June 30
Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas will be opened for Amarnath Yatra devotees from June 30. Arrangements have been made to accommodate about 2500 devotees here, while special arrangements have also been made for additional devotees. This time the process of current registration has also been made easier.
Devotees will no longer have to wander around the railway station, as registration, medical examination, certificates and other facilities will be made available at one place at Tawi River Front. In view of the increasing number of passengers, a plan has also been made to increase the capacity of the stopping places.
At present there is accommodation for about nine thousand passengers. There is a proposal to increase it to 15 thousand. Under this, passenger accommodation, dharamshalas and other facilities will be expanded so that there is no inconvenience during the journey. The registration process for this year’s Amarnath Yatra began on April 15 and so far more than 3.5 lakh pilgrims have registered themselves through designated bank branches across the country. The number of people registering is continuously increasing.
