Taking cognizance of the videos being shared on social media, the administration in Jammu and Kashmir held a press conference and clarified that a large number of pilgrims have reached Kashmir without registration to perform Amarnath Ji Yatra. Divisional Commissioner and IG Kashmir held a joint press conference in this regard and said that the administration is giving permission to travel only according to the number of passengers decided by the Supreme Court. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg said that since the start of the Yatra on July 3, 26,000 pilgrims have visited Baba Barfani.
He said that the administration is strictly following the carrying capacity decided by the Supreme Court for the yatra. He further said, ‘Online registration for the yatra started on April 15 and for the registered yatris who are reaching Jammu and Kashmir, the facility to complete e-KYC and RFID is being provided at various convenience centres, as RFID is necessary to perform this yatra.’
Many travelers reached Kashmir without registration
However, Anshul Garg said that many devotees have reached Jammu and Kashmir without prior registration, due to which they are facing problems. It is important for them to say and tell that only those who are registered pilgrims, the facility of RFID card and the facility of travel will be available, because the Tatkal quota is limited and it depends on the vacant places of those registered pilgrims who do not come for the yatra. Accordingly, such facility is available to only a few passengers through Tatkal quota.
Many people reached before the date of journey
The Divisional Commissioner also appealed to those pilgrims who have reached Jammu and Kashmir before their scheduled date. He said that they should travel only on their scheduled date so that smooth management can be done and crowding can be avoided. He requested the passengers who reached Kashmir without registration to wait for a few days for registration, because at present the facility of RFID card and travel facility cannot be provided to them, because at present these facilities are being provided only to the registered passengers.
Complete the online registration process on time
Anshul Garg further said that he advised the devotees planning to travel in the coming days to complete the online registration process in time to avoid problems, so that they can travel comfortably only after getting the RFID. He said that the administration in collaboration with Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and other concerned departments is trying its best to ensure safe, smooth and hassle-free journey for all the devotees.
