Amarnath Yatra 2026: This year the holy journey of Amarnath has started. This journey started on 3rd July, Thursday i.e. yesterday. The first batch of Amarnath Yatra devotees reached Kashmir Valley under tight security. In which there were more than 4800 devotees. This holy journey of Amarnath will conclude on 28th August. That means this journey will last for a total of 57 days. This journey is counted among the most difficult journeys, but still, great enthusiasm of Shiva devotees can be seen in this journey. Amarnath cave is situated at an altitude of about 3978 meters.

The importance of this cave is very high because in the scriptures it is considered to be the same place where Mahadev had narrated the story of immortality to Mother Parvati. It is believed that completing the Amarnath Yatra with devotion and having darshan of Baba Barfani opens the doors to salvation. Amarnath Yatra has also been described as very special in religious texts like Bhrigu Samhita, Neelmat Purana etc. It is believed that by visiting Amarnath, one gets ten times more virtue than visiting Kashi, hundred times more than visiting Prayag and thousand times more than visiting Naimisharanya, but do you know who opened this cave for the first time? It is told in Bhrigu Samhita that Maharishi Bhrigu was the first to see this holy cave. According to the legend, once the Kashmir valley was completely covered in water. At that time Maharishi Kashyap had taken out the water of Kashmir valley through rivers and drains. During this time, Maharishi Bhrigu was searching for a suitable place for penance in the Himalayas, when he saw the cave of Amarnath and saw Baba Barfani. In this way, Maharishi Bhrigu is considered to be the first person to have darshan of Baba.

This story is also very famous

According to folk beliefs, the story of a shepherd who visited Amarnath cave is also very famous. The name of the shepherd was Buta Malik. He first visited Amarnath cave in about 15 century. According to the story, a saint gave a bag full of coal to a shepherd, but when he went to return the bag, he found gold coins in it. The shepherd was surprised to see this.

After this the shepherd started searching for the saint. Then he saw the cave of Amarnath, in which an ice Shivalinga was present. It is believed that the journey to Amarnath started from then onwards.
