According to religious belief, Lord Shiva searched for a place where no third living being existed to tell the secret of immortality to Mother Parvati. It is said that the two pigeons present in the cave at that time also heard this story and got the blessing of immortality. Even today many devotees consider the sight of pigeons around the cave as auspicious.
