
A delegation of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders submitted a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka on Monday. He alleged that large-scale irregularities were taking place in the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) in the state. It has been said in the allegation that booth level officers (BLOs) are not doing door-to-door verification. Instead, forms are being filled en masse in community halls, mosques and officials’ homes. People are being called to camps by forming WhatsApp groups.
The leaders said that this is causing irregularities in the voter list. The leaders have demanded that all the counting forms should be checked again from door to door. Along with this, a demand has been made to take strict action against the officers and leaders involved in the irregularities.

What did the leaders write in the letter?
The leaders wrote in the letter, We are writing this letter expressing serious concern over the large-scale irregularities in the work related to SIR of the voter list in the state of Karnataka. The officials conducting the SIR are not caring at all about the accepted procedure, due to which the basic spirit of democracy is being weakened.
He said that under the instructions of the District Election Officer, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have to conduct necessary door-to-door verification as per the SIR guidelines. The identity of the members of every household has to be verified individually, but this is not happening at the ground level.
The leaders wrote in the letter that its evidence has been shared on social media and the mainstream media has also shown it.
He said that many such complaints are being received from many other parts of the state also. He also accused the Congress government of misusing officials and weakening the SIR process.
