
The Indian government has taken a strict stance on the death of an Indian sailor in Venezuela under suspicious circumstances and several body parts being found missing from his body which was returned to India. The Foreign Ministry said on Friday (July 3) that the matter has been raised with Venezuelan authorities. Also demanded an immediate and impartial investigation into the entire matter.
Actually, 33-year-old Rakesh Chauhan, resident of Uttar Pradesh, died of a heart attack on May 7 in Falcon state of Venezuela. The death certificate issued by a Venezuelan medical center listed the cause of death as a stroke. Chauhan’s body was brought to India last month.
Many major organs missing from the dead body
After this, the post-mortem of Rakesh Chauhan’s body was conducted in Uttar Pradesh, in which a very shocking revelation was made. According to the post-mortem report, many major organs including brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidney, stomach and intestines were missing from the body. Doctors who conducted the post-mortem said that due to the absence of organs, the exact cause of death could not be determined and it could not be known whether there were any injuries related to the death.
Family accused of murder
Chauhan’s family has alleged that he was murdered. The family told that Chauhan had last talked to the family from his plane on the morning of 7 May. Soon after this, his family got information that he had fallen, became unconscious and his condition was critical. Later the family was informed about Chauhan’s death. India demands investigation from Venezuela
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said about this in the weekly press briefing, ‘We have raised this matter with the Venezuelan authorities and requested for an immediate investigation. We will keep you updated about this. Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Caracas had posted on social media that it has demanded a thorough investigation from the Venezuelan authorities into the desecration of Chauhan’s body and removal of body parts. The embassy said that it is in constant touch with the concerned local authorities since the matter came to light.
MP also wrote a letter
Meanwhile, CPI-M MP John Brittas has written a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar saying that in view of the serious allegations related to this case, Venezuelan authorities should be asked to give comprehensive details of the death. The Ministry has assured that it is taking this matter with utmost seriousness and all diplomatic efforts will be made to provide justice to the victim’s family.
