Let us tell you that Alka is suffering from Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). This disease was caused by a sudden severe viral attack, due to which his hearing ability has been badly affected.

I have seen people’s concern regarding a video related to the ceremony and I want to assure everyone that I am completely fine and my health is continuously improving. The day of Padma Award ceremony was very long and memorable. After the program I was feeling only a little tired, so I asked for the assistance of a wheelchair while leaving.

Alka further wrote- Please do not worry about anything. Now I am feeling better than before and am deeply grateful to all of you for your prayers, love and support. This love constantly gives me courage and strength. I heartily thank the Honorable President of India, the Honorable Prime Minister, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of India for this great honour.
Alka was away from limelight for 2 years
