Assembly elections are to be held in Uttar Pradesh next year, for which all political parties have already started preparations. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is now working on a strategy to break into the traditional strongholds of BJP through ‘Vision India’ campaign. After the problems of the farmers, now he is going to touch the sore spot of small businessmen and small entrepreneurs.
Samajwadi Party is going to organize ‘Vision India’ summit in Agra today (Sunday, June 14), the theme of which is ‘Why are small businessmen getting ruined’. This program is being considered very important politically because the entire Braj region including Agra is considered a strong stronghold of BJP.
BJP’s traditional fort
In the last two Lok Sabha elections, BJP has captured all the 9 assembly seats of Agra. Agra and Fatehpur Sikri Lok Sabha seats are also with BJP. SP has not been able to win even a single seat here. BJP also dominates most of the assembly seats in districts like Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, Kasganj, Hathras and Aligarh.
According to party sources, there is a lot of dissatisfaction among small traders and small entrepreneurs regarding issues like GST system, increasing competition of online business and neglect of cities like Agra. SP is trying to make inroads in the business class by raising these issues. So that he can get their support in the upcoming elections.
What is Vision India Campaign?
Akhilesh Yadav had started the ‘Vision India’ campaign last year. Its objective is to connect the young generation and take the ideology of the party to other states. He has given a new definition to ‘PDA’ and changed it to ‘Plan, Development and Ascent’. Under the campaign, programs on different topics have already been organized in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and Jaipur. The first summit on the topic ‘Why are farmers worried’ was held in Ghaziabad in April in Uttar Pradesh. The Agra event is the second event of this series. Earlier, while intensifying his election campaign in Western Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav held a rally in Noida and organized a farmers summit in Ghaziabad.
Keep an eye on businessmen and youth
The Agra program is being considered a part of SP’s new strategy, in which it is targeting the core vote bank of BJP i.e. businessmen and youth. If SP succeeds in capitalizing on the dissatisfaction in this class even to some extent, then the equation can change in Braj region in the 2027 assembly elections. Akhilesh Yadav will now directly communicate with small businessmen in Agra and promise to include their issues in the party’s agenda.
