
The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved the proposal for the Defense Forces with an estimated cost of about Rs 52,000 crore. In the meeting held on Friday, approval was given to purchase several weapons for the Indian Army. The weapons whose purchase has been approved for the Indian Army.
They include anti-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) electronic warfare system Akash Tarang, man portable anti-tank guided missile (MPATGM) system, medium range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) weapon system, very short range air defense system (V-SHORADS), active protection system for tanks and jet based kamikaze drone system etc.

V-SHORADS with multi-spectral sensing will increase the counter-measures resilience and effectiveness of the Indian Army. The active protection system will be able to improve the defense mechanism of tanks and increase their survivability. For the Indian Navy, procurement of Multi Influence Ground Mine (MIGM), Naval Shipborne Unmanned Aerial System (NSUAS) and establishment of Land Based Testing Facility (LBTF) for Electric Propulsion System were approved.
Challenge will increase for enemies
MIGM will not give freedom of maneuver to the enemy. NSUAS equipped with advanced sensors will enhance the situational awareness of the Indian Navy. LBTF will cater to the testing requirements of motors and associated propulsion systems of Indian Naval assets.
For the Indian Air Force, procurement of Fixed-Wing Based High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (FW-HAPS) and other proposals were approved. FW-HAPS will provide continuous intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, telecommunication and remote sensing for the Indian Air Force.
