
The scope of the ongoing students’ agitation at Delhi Jantar Mantar demanding the paper leak and resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is increasing. On behalf of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), many political parties including Congress came to protest against the brutal action of the police during the students’ march to Parliament on Monday, now a protest was held in Patna where the police lathi-charged the protesters.
There was lathi charge by the police during the protest organized by leftist students’ organization All India Students Association (AISA) in Patna on Wednesday against the lathi charge on students in Delhi. During this, the protesters also pelted stones at the police, in which some policemen were injured. The police also lathicharged.

Tear gas shells are also being fired on the protesting students and efforts are being made to disperse them by using water cannon. Earlier on Monday, during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march of CJP and students, the police lathi-charged the protesters and also released tear gas shells.

The incident turned violent after lathicharge and tear gas shells were fired on protesters in the capital Delhi on Monday. Both the protesters and the police targeted each other. A large number of policemen were also injured in the violent clash while protesting students were also injured. More than a hundred people had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Security tightened after violent clash
However, the protesters postponed their Parliament march campaign on Tuesday in view of the violence on the first day. But the protesters of Cockroach Janata Party continued their protest at Jantar Mantar even today. More supporters gathered at the protest site overnight and the volunteers also received food and other items sent by the supporters.
CJP claimed in its post today, “Thousands of protesters are present at Jantar Mantar this morning.” This movement, which started over alleged irregularities in the paper leak, has now entered its second month.
Police in alert mode in Delhi
On the other hand, Delhi Police is in alert mode in view of separate protests by Cockroach Janata Party and Youth Congress in the capital New Delhi and other districts. Also, strict security arrangements have been made in Lutyens area of Delhi.
Official sources said that apart from Connaught Place and Jantar Mantar, multi-layer security arrangements have been made around Rafi Marg, Sansad Marg and many other sensitive places to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident.
Also sources say that barricading has already been done at strategic places. Surveillance of Delhi has been increased through CCTV cameras and other surveillance systems. Apart from these, additional police and paramilitary forces are being deployed at many major intersections and sensitive places of the capital. Apart from this, anti-riot units, quick reaction teams (QRT) and reserve forces have been kept ready. Security at metro stations has also been tightened. 16 metro stations including Rajiv Chowk have been closed.
