The Delhi government is fully prepared to use modern technology to tackle dust pollution and transform it into a clean, green and world-class capital. In this regard, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa reviewed the progress of the proposed DUST Portal 2.0 on Friday. The portal is an advanced AI-enabled environmental monitoring and compliance platform of Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), designed to strengthen Delhi’s fight against dust pollution, and is likely to be launched in the coming weeks.
During the meeting, senior officials gave detailed information about the main features of the portal and how it works. This portal uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor construction related activities and compliance with environment related rules in all areas of Delhi.AI), real-time analysis, automated assessment, AI-powered cameras, particulate matter (PM) sensors and digital governance tools.
This port will prove helpful in monitoring environmental control measures like high density green anti-dust net and anti-smog guns. If there is any change in the level of pollution beyond the prescribed standards, alerts will be issued automatically, so that necessary measures can be taken in time to control pollution.
DUST Portal 2.0: AI-based monitoring and real-time action
Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that all existing systems and processes are being further strengthened with the aim of ensuring clean air for the people of Delhi and a healthy future for children. He said that DUST Portal 2.0 will prove to be a powerful medium to make pollution control efforts in Delhi more effective, transparent and accountable.
The minister further said, “Our aim is not just to collect data but to fix accountability. Every construction site will have to follow dust control norms, and technology will help us identify violations in real-time. Development work in Delhi cannot be at the cost of people’s health. DUST Portal 2.0 will ensure transparency, accountability and immediate action against negligence.”
Ensuring transparency and accountability at construction sites in Delhi
Key features of DUST Portal 2.0 include QR code based site monitoring system, under which each registered construction site will be provided with a unique QR code. By scanning this code, officials will be able to instantly view site information, compliance records, audit reports and environmental data, which will significantly improve the quality and transparency of inspections.
This portal will enable 24×7 live monitoring of construction sites, enabling officials to immediately detect deficiencies in compliance with instructions so that immediate action can be initiated. The system, integrated with PM sensors, AI-based cameras and continuous ambient air quality monitoring (CAAQM) stations, will also assess the impact of individual sites on PM2.5 and PM10 levels. This portal will help officials to identify violations of rules, monitor compliance with rules and take timely action.

DUST Portal 2.0 also features an AI based alert system, which can break down violations into three levels to ensure timely action. Yellow Alert will act as an early warning when air quality limits are exceeded; Orange Alert will indicate audit-based moderate level violations while Red Alert will indicate serious violations, following which automatic action will be initiated by the concerned department.
Officials also showcased a special dashboard created for project experts and DPCC officials, which will enable real-time monitoring of compliance status, environmental analysis, alert management and digital audit.
DUST Portal 2.0 is a major step towards creating a technology-based anti-environment system that will help protect people’s health and create a cleaner future for the residents of Delhi.
