
The biggest action so far has been taken against foreign infiltrators living illegally in Ahmedabad. 131 illegal Bangladeshi citizens have been arrested while 160 others are being interrogated. The local police and crime branch took this action late in the night as part of a joint search operation. Search operations were conducted by different teams in identified areas of the city.
Search operations were conducted in Chandola, Gulabnagar and Khodiyarnagar areas. Initial investigation has revealed that many infiltrators were living here illegally on the basis of fake documents. Police officers are carefully checking the Aadhaar card, voter ID and other identity cards. The citizenship and local contacts of 160 other detained citizens are being investigated.

Action taken against intruders at midnight
In this action which started late night, the police had detained more than 290 suspects. After investigation and matching of documents, 131 Bangladeshi citizens who were living illegally were arrested. Meanwhile, 160 other suspects are being interrogated. Police are also trying to find out which brokers had helped these people in making fake documents and giving them shelter in the city. After completion of the investigation in the case, these people will be sent back to Bangladesh as per the legal process and further action will be taken.
Government is strict on illegal infiltrators- Deputy CM
Regarding this entire matter, Gujarat Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi said that the Home Department of Gujarat has taken a strict stance against the Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in the state. A special operation is being conducted to identify and arrest foreign nationals staying illegally in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara.
Police, Crime Branch, SOG and other agencies conducted investigation and search operations in different areas. During this operation that lasted overnight, a large number of suspected Bangladeshi citizens were detained. The state government has made it clear that this campaign against illegal infiltration and foreign citizens living illegally will continue in the future also.
