Ahmad Khan on Movie with SRK: Famous Bollywood director Ahmed Khan is in the news these days for his recently released film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. Ahmed Khan has worked with many top actors of the industry, except Shahrukh Khan. Many people have a question in their mind that why Ahmed Khan never made any film with Shahrukh Khan. But very few people know that Ahmed was going to make his first film with Shahrukh Khan, which was named ‘Sabr’. But perhaps fate had something else in mind. In a recent conversation, Ahmed Khan has given the reason for the closure of his incomplete film ‘Sabr’.
Ahmed Khan used to be a choreographer before becoming a director. Ahmed Khan made his directorial debut in 2004 with Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty and John Abraham starrer film ‘Laakeer: Forbidden Lines’. But his first film as a director was going to be with Shahrukh Khan, in which Shahrukh Along with playing the lead role, he was also going to produce it. In an interview, Ahmed revealed the story of the film ‘Sabr’ and the reason for it not being made.
Ahmed Khan’s revelation on patience
Ahmed Khan said, “At that time, before ‘Lakeer’, I had written a film named ‘Sabr’. Shahrukh Khan was to be in a double role in this film. AR Rahman had also agreed to compose its music. It was the story of a grandfather and grandson. By the time the grandson was born, his grandfather had passed away, but he knew everything about him, because he had heard his stories while still in his mother’s womb. It was an emotional story.”

The director further said, “Shah Rukh was going to play both the roles in this film. When I told Shahrukh about this, he said that he would like to do this film. I was in a hurry to make it. That year, Shahrukh was launching two choreographers – Farah and me as directors under his production. At that time its name was ‘Dreams Unlimited’.”
Shahrukh liked the story
Ahmed explains, “Shah Rukh heard my script and he liked it very much. It was a serious film. Rehman had started working on its music. There were going to be two more heroes in it. But his first priority was to work with Farah. According to my understanding, my film could be made only after Farah’s film. I could not move forward by breaking the line.”
Why was the film Sabar postponed?
Ahmed Khan said, “But Farah’s film kept getting postponed again and again. It was delayed for almost two years because Shahrukh There were other tasks to complete and making a film takes a lot of time. I was getting restless. I was completely ready to start my film. And then, finally, the shooting of ‘Main Hoon Na’ started. It would have easily taken a year or a year and a half to complete. I couldn’t wait that long.” However, Shahrukh requested Ahmed to wait a little more, but Ahmed could not wait and started working on ‘Lakir’.
The film was shelved
The director said, “I remember talking to Shahrukh and he told me, ‘Don’t go anywhere. Your first film should be with me only.’ But I could not wait much longer and started ‘Lakerein’. However, there was no sourness in their relationship after this. Ahmed Khan says, “I asked her if I could make my second film with her, then she said, ‘You are going.’ Then I turned to the other side and made a ‘line’. But this did not affect our relationship. That film was never made. It was only for Shahrukh.”
