
Nearly a month after conducting successful assembly elections in 5 states including West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar is in Agra for a 2-day visit. His visit was also important in the sense that he visited his home town Agra for the first time after the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) process of the voter list in Uttar Pradesh.
On Tuesday, the second day of his Agra tour, Gyanesh Kumar along with his wife Anuradha went to Kailash temple and offered prayers there. After performing the puja, the Chief Election Commissioner said, “After conducting successful elections in 5 states, my wife, Anuradha, and I came to Agra to seek the blessings of our parents. After this, we also came to Kailash Temple for darshan of Mahadev and sought their blessings.”

All voters should get their ID cards made: Gyanesh
During this, he also said, “I would like to tell all the voters of the country to definitely get their Voter ID card made and cast their vote in every election. Only a clean voter list is the foundation of transparent elections. Come, let us all participate in the election process of the country.”
Earlier, on reaching Agra yesterday on Monday, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that a “clean” and correct voter list is the foundation of transparent voting. He also emphasized that it is very important to keep the voter list free from mistakes. Gyanesh is on a 2-day personal visit to his home town Agra.
The Chief Election Commissioner said, “Voters should understand that a clean voter list is the basis of transparent voting.” He also took the blessings of his parents when he returned home for the first time after the SIR Process campaign in UP.
Gyanesh Kumar has been an IAS of 1988 batch.
He reached Agra with his wife Anuradha yesterday Monday afternoon and met his family. He also went to his home, where his relatives welcomed him warmly. After meeting with the parents, he said that it was a very special moment for him to get the blessings of the parents after the completion of the work of SIR. He will leave for Delhi today.
Gyanesh Kumar is a 1988 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Kerala cadre and took over as the 26th Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of the country on February 19 last year. After retiring on January 31, 2024, he was appointed Election Commissioner in the Election Commission on March 15, 2024. Later he became the Chief Election Commissioner.
