US President Donald Trump has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called him his good friend. He said that a trade agreement will soon be signed between India and America. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, I like Prime Minister Modi very much. He is my good friend. Our relations are good and we will do a deal soon.
However, Trump also said that India has been imposing high tariffs on American companies for many years. He said that India used to impose heavy tariffs on American companies, whereas America did not charge such fees from India. A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had also praised PM Modi.
Talks on trade deal between India and US
This statement of Trump has come at a time when talks are going on between the two countries regarding a trade agreement. This week an American delegation came to India. The trade agreement was discussed between the officials of the two countries for four days, which ended on Thursday.
India’s Commerce Ministry said that the talks took place in a positive atmosphere. Both the countries emphasized that such an agreement should be made which will benefit both India and America. According to the ministry, both sides are working together to further strengthen trade and economic relations.
