
After the great success of the Dhurandhar franchise, now director Aditya Dhar can work on a new film and it is expected that this project will also be very big. Aditya Dhar can bring the story of Ahom commander Lachit Borphukan on the big screen. He also had a conversation with Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma about this and it was positive. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told that he had approached director Aditya Dhar to direct his dream project. Along with giving information about this project, he has also given the reason for including Aditya Dhar’s name in this upcoming project.
What did CM Himanta Biswa Sarma say?
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed during Facebook Live that he has contacted Aditya Dhar to discuss this ambitious project. Praising the filmmaker’s recent success, he said, “The film Dhurandhar was a big hit. Aditya Dhar was its director and he is one of the most popular names of his time.”
Why only Aditya Dhar for the project?
Explaining the reason for including Aditya Dhar in this project, CM Himanta says that he has the ability to convey the extraordinary legacy of Lachit Borphukan to the audience across the world in a large-scale Hindi film. He said, “I think that if our government can make a film on Lachik Borphukan, then we can make his bravery recognized globally and this will be a special achievement for us.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that his conversation with Aditya Dhar has been positive and it is expected that the director can reach Assam by August to discuss and carry forward the creative vision of this project.
A big biopic will be made
At present, CM Himanta has also made it clear that no matter who directs the film, its work will continue. If Aditya Dhar is not able to do it then he will contact other directors. His aim is to make a big biopic on Lachit Borphukan.
The Assam government wants to bring the bravery of the state’s historical heroes on the big screen through these proposed biopics. In the budget of 2026-27, the government had announced to make films based on the lives of brave Lachit Borphukan and freedom fighter Kushal Konwar.
