May 26, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Adani Group has taken a big step in the energy sector. Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) on Tuesday said it has increased the capacity of its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Khavra, Gujarat to 3.37 GWh. With this step, 10 lakh houses will be able to get clean energy.

This is how rejuvenation will happen

The company said in a statement that after adding 1.37 GWh capacity in March 2026, its total operational BESS capacity has increased to 3.37 GWh. AGEN is developing a 30 GW renewable energy park at Khavra, of which 9.9 GW capacity is already operational. The company said it is the world’s largest battery storage project installed at a single location outside China and is among the fastest-implemented projects globally.

This is the expansion plan of the company

According to the statement, AGEN’s 3.37 gigawatt hour BESS capacity is capable of providing clean energy to approximately 10 lakh households for a day. Apart from this, it can provide continuous energy to more than 1.2 crore LED bulbs for 10 hours. The company plans to add more than 10 GWh of battery storage capacity in financial year 2026-27 and take it to 50 GWh in the next five years.

The network is spread in 12 states of the country

Sagar Adani, Executive Director of AGEN, said, large-scale energy storage will play a key role in the next phase of India’s clean energy transition. With the rapid expansion of renewable energy capacity, storage infrastructure becomes essential for reliable and 24-hour clean power supply. The company develops, owns and operates grid-connected projects involving solar, wind, hybrid and energy storage. AGEN’s total operational renewable energy portfolio is 19.7 GW, the largest in the country and spread across 12 states.
