Based on the preliminary report of the SIT in the Ram Temple offering theft case, the police have registered an FIR against 8 people and arrested them. At present, all of them are on judicial remand. After questions were raised on the role of the management, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra have also resigned from their posts. His resignation has also been accepted by the Trust.
The biggest question is that when the news of irregularities regarding the temple’s funds is coming out, then the role of its treasurer should not be under question? On moral grounds, should he not resign until the truth of this matter comes out? But instead of accepting his responsibilities, Ram Mandir Trust Treasurer Swami Govind Giri himself was seen giving clean chit to Champat Rai and Anil Mishra in front of the media.
When Swami Govind Giri was asked that he was the treasurer. You also bear the responsibility of any kind of financial irregularities in Ram temple. You failed to fulfill your responsibility. But why did you not resign like Champat Rai and Anil Mishra? He said, I have nothing to do with this scandal. I will not resign. There is no question of resignation. I will not resign at all.

Why are Swami Govind Dev Giri’s claims under question?
Swami Govind Dev Giri has also said in his statement that he is not the official signatory of the trust’s bank accounts. They don’t even have any check book for payment. Payment is through direct bank transfer. He did not come to count the offerings. This work is done under the supervision of local trustees. I have no role. After being the treasurer of the trust, he has never accepted cash or any item as donation from anyone. These claims of his are making his role as treasurer more suspicious.
- If Govind Dev Giri had no authority then why was he on a position of authority?
- Why was he sitting in Pune and becoming the treasurer of Ram Mandir Trust of Ayodhya?
- If work was not being done in Ayodhya based on your guidelines, then why were you on the post?
- Why didn’t you leave that post? Under what greed are you holding this position?
Why did you maintain silence for 20 days after the incident of offering theft came to light?
He has maintained silence for almost 20 days after the theft of Ram Temple offerings came to light. Even after the theft was revealed, neither his statement nor the party came forward. Now when questions have been raised on his role, he is writing a letter declaring himself innocent. The question is that when he came to know that embezzlement in the funds under his control was revealed, then why did he not write such a letter. Having a responsible position in the Trust, it being a matter of his department and as a saint, he should be the first one to present his side on this issue.
Digvijay Singh, Avimukteshwaranand and Ashok Gehlot also raised questions on Govind Dev Giri.
Congress leader Digvijay Singh has also questioned the arguments of Swami Govind Dev Giri. He said that according to Swami Govind Dev Giri, he did not have the right to sign the cheque. He is the treasurer, how can this happen? Digvijay Singh further said that small fish were caught but crocodiles were not caught. During this, he also supported the statement of Swami Avimukteshwarand in which he had said that the main responsibility in the case of theft of offerings lies with the treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, Govind Dev Giri.
Swami Avimukteshwarand had said that in case of theft of donations received from Ram temple, it is mainly the responsibility of the treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. Then the responsibility falls on trustee Anil Mishra and Champat Rai. Then you are keeping Champat Rai at number one. He said what kind of justice is this? At the same time, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot also said that Govind Dev Giri, being the Treasurer, is saying that he does not know anything. This Ram temple offering theft case is increasing the suspicion even more.
Will Govind Dev Giri Maharaj not influence the investigation?
At present, Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj still remains on the post of temple treasurer. Participating in trust meetings. The investigation has not been completed, yet they are giving clean chit to Anil Mishra and Champat Rai, should they take the side of such people while holding a responsible post? The question is whether he, being the treasurer of the same fund in which the theft took place, will not influence the investigation. Why should he not resign on moral grounds?
