
Two Army soldiers were martyred when a grenade suddenly exploded near the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday (June 9) in Uri sector of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Both the soldiers were residents of Thane and Satara districts of Maharashtra. Who have been identified as Arjun Jadhav and Vikram Balkrishna.
According to officials, both the soldiers were seriously injured in this accident. After which he was immediately taken to the hospital. After this he was referred to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar. However, despite the efforts of the doctors, both the soldiers died. This accident happened at around 4:30 pm.
Accident happened in Kamalkot
A hand grenade accidentally exploded during a routine transfer of equipment at a camp in Kamalkot in Uri, injuring two soldiers, officials said. Both the martyred soldiers have been identified as Arjun Jadhav and Vikram Balkrishna. Both were residents of Maharashtra and were posted in 8 Rashtriya Rifles.
Investigation into the accident continues
The army has expressed grief over this incident. According to officials, the mortal remains of both the martyred soldiers will be sent to their native villages with military honours. Officials told that how this accident happened is currently being investigated so that the real cause of the accident can be revealed.
Army personnel deployed in the security of LoC
The 740 km long LoC in Jammu and Kashmir passes through Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts. LoC in Jammu division is in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu districts. Apart from this, the 240 km long international border of the Union Territory shares with Samba, Jammu and Kathua districts. LoC is guarded by the Army while the responsibility of the international border rests with BSF. Both the forces deployed on the border to stop infiltration, smuggling and drone activities.
