Trinamool Congress MP and party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee reached Parliament on Friday and challenged the merger of a group of 20 rebel MPs with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) in front of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Abhishek Banerjee was accompanied by party MPs Kalyan Banerjee and Saugata Roy, who insisted that the party was united and rejected the claims of the breakaway group.
after meeting the speaker Abhishek Banerjee Said that a letter was given to the Speaker on June 14. On that basis he was called. At that time the ED was being interrogated. Because of this I could not come. Today it was five o’clock. We all met. Before the meeting, Mahua Moitra met on behalf of the party.
He said that twenty TMC MPs had met the Speaker and claimed to be a separate group. They joined a separate party, NCPI.
Abhishek complained to the speaker
Abhishek Banerjee said that he had come to meet the Speaker as per the provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution. In two (a) if you are leaving the party on voluntary basis then your membership will be lost.
He joined another party so his membership should be lost. He claims that two-thirds did the merger. It is written in it that two-thirds merger will be considered only if the party does it and not the legislative party, that is, if the entire party organization merges then it will be considered and if only the MP goes then the membership is lost.
Abhishek Banerjee said that I have filed twenty different petitions. All are disqualification petitions. We have demanded that a decision on these petitions should be taken as soon as possible. The Supreme Court has also said that a decision should be taken within three months. Whatever they are demanding like forming a separate group, separate seating area, making one of us the leader, all these are subsequent things, first the membership should be abolished. You leave it. When elections are held, contest on the ticket of whichever party you want.
The people of the state will not forgive
Abhishek Banerjee said that twenty people have committed dishonesty. The Constitution has been insulted. Tenth Schedule flouted. Have sold your conscience and your honor. The people of Bengal will not forgive them. They have got central security. Go here. No one will be found standing with them. He alleged that they went out of fear of ED and CBI. And this has been done by intimidation and luring crores of rupees.
He said that there is not a level playing field. Saw in Maharashtra how people are trying to break Shiv Sena. Not contesting elections in a democratic manner. Election Commission, CBI, ED are misusing everything. There was a raid on my house. Mamta’s house was raided. I was summoned.
