Trinamool Congress leader and Diamond Harbor MP Abhishek Banerjee was interrogated by West Bengal CID for 6 hours on Thursday. This long interrogation took place at the CID headquarters in Kolkata. In the fake signature case, Calcutta High Court had directed Abhishek to appear before the investigators in this case. Actually, an important proposal was presented in the assembly. In this proposal there was talk about the proposal for appointment of the leader of the opposition and other important posts. It is alleged that the signatures of some TMC MLAs on this proposal were found to be forged or incorrect. These were not matching his original signature.
CID is investigating this signature scam. During the investigation, handwriting samples of many MLAs have also been taken. On the orders of Calcutta High Court, Abhishek Banerjee had to appear at the CID headquarters. Earlier, CID had sent summons to him several times, but he did not come citing health and other matters. CID says that it was very important to interrogate Abhishek Banerjee in this case.

5 MLAs expressed doubt on the signature
CID alleged that the signatures in the resolution presented in the Assembly were from the meeting held on May 6. But many TMC MLAs said that no meeting was held that day and we never even signed that paper. In this matter, at least 5 MLAs have expressed doubt on their own signatures. When compared with his real signature, there was a lot of difference.
CID told the court that Abhishek Banerjee is not giving the original documents despite receiving repeated notices. Therefore, it was necessary to interrogate him by taking him into custody, so that the documents could be recovered.
