Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee again reached Bhavani Bhawan on Sunday to face CID’s questioning in the signature forgery case in the Assembly. He was asked to appear by 12 noon. They reached CID office 17 minutes before the scheduled time. With this, at around 125 a.m., Trinamool Congress spokesperson and MLA Kunal Ghosh reached CID office Bhavani Bhavan.
CID officials will interrogate both of them in the signature forgery case. Sources say that both can be interrogated by making them sit together.
Let us tell you that on Saturday, a meeting of party leaders was held at the house of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. in that meeting Abhishek Banerjee And Kunal Ghosh had attended, there was an argument between the two regarding Abhishek Banerjee’s personal assistant Sumit Roy. The debate was calmed down after the intervention of Mamata Banerjee. After Saturday night, Abhishek Banerjee and Kunal Ghosh will face each other again on Sunday, but the place will be CID office.
Abhishek appeared before CID for the second time
Calcutta High Court had ordered Abhishek Banerjee to cooperate in the investigation of the State Police Intelligence Department in this case. The court said that CID will not be able to take strict action against him for the next two weeks.
Abhishek Banerjee’s car reached CID office at 11:43 am on Sunday. He first went towards the reception. After showing his identity card and signing the attendance book, Abhishek entered the CID office. In view of his presence, security has been increased in Bhavani Bhawan premises.
Despite Sunday being a holiday, CID officers reached the office one by one since morning. Additional police and central forces have been deployed to ensure security. RAF has also been deployed.
ED and CID tightened their grip
Earlier, Abhishek Banerjee had appeared at Bhavani Bhawan in the signature forgery case on Thursday. After returning from Delhi, he went to CID office via Kalighat. He was interrogated for five and a half hours that day.
The Diamond Harbor MP had gone to Mamata Banerjee’s house in Kalighat after leaving at night. On the same day the CID had asked him to appear again. It was said that they would interrogate Abhishek Banerjee again on Sunday. Abhishek Banerjee had said that he would appear.
Not only on Sunday, CID had called Abhishek Banerjee in another case on June 16. On the basis of one of his comments, a complaint was registered in Salt Lake. Based on the investigation regarding that, the state sleuths went to Abhishek’s house last Friday and served him a notice.
Apart from this, on June 15, ED has summoned Abhishek Banerjee in the primary teacher recruitment corruption case. It is not clear whether they will appear in the concerned office on Monday and Tuesday after Sunday or not. At present, Abhishek Banerjee has not got any protection in both these cases.
Abhishek trapped in fake signature scandal
The controversy started when Trinamool Legislative Party sent a letter to the Speaker after electing Shobhandev Chatterjee as the leader of opposition in the Assembly. It is alleged that there are mistakes in the signatures of many people in the letter. Many people claim that he did not sign. Some people’s names are written in capital letters!
That letter had the signature of Abhishek Banerjee as the General Secretary of the party. CID had called him several times for questioning. At first he avoided appearing several times. After that Abhishek Banerjee approached the High Court for protection. After the court order, he appeared for the second time in Bhavani Bhawan in this case.
