
The picture emerging from the municipal elections in Punjab has completely changed the atmosphere of the state’s politics. Aam Aadmi Party is again getting tremendous support in the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Panchayat elections. The people of Punjab have once again expressed confidence in the policies of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government. These elections are not just local body elections, but the semi-final before the 2027 assembly elections.
The biggest political message has come from Gidderbaha, where the Aam Aadmi Party has given a tremendous performance in the stronghold of Congress state president Raja Wadding. This signal is being considered not only as an electoral defeat for Congress but also as a political message. The public now wants to move ahead from the old political structure.

The results of Nabha Nagar Council are also telling the story of the growing support base of Aam Aadmi Party. BJP, Akali Dal and Congress together could not leave the same impact that Aam Aadmi Party seemed to leave alone.

These results are being considered a serious warning for the three parties Congress, Akali Dal and BJP. The parties which once ruled the politics of Punjab are today seen struggling for third and fourth place in many areas. The perception has strengthened among the public that these parties kept Punjab entangled in the politics of promises and dynasticism for years, while the Aam Aadmi Party carried forward the agenda of system change and development.
