Former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Rahul Gandhi had asked the same question as to why Pinarayi Vijayan’s house was not being raided and why Pinarayi Vijayan was not being arrested. ED action in this case
EG has taken action in the money laundering case related to Kerala-based company CMRL (Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited). In this, raids were conducted at several locations of Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter Veena Vijayan and company officials. This case came to light in 2019, when the Income Tax Department raided CMRL.
The investigation had revealed fake expenditure of Rs 130 crore. After this, the investigation of the case was handed over to the Serious Fraud Investigation Office, which claimed in the investigation that the company showed fake cash expenditure of Rs 182 crore in the last 15 years. Not only this, company MD SN Sasidharan and his son Saran Karta were given around Rs 30.63 crore as salary and other payments between 2015-16 to 2022-23. However, the company did not pay any dividend to the shareholders.
