
Meta Layoffs: Every company wants to get ahead in the race of AI, to get ahead in the race, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, had also made a major change in AI restructuring earlier this year and had shown the way out of the company to thousands of employees.
Meta believed that this move of laying off people on a large scale would help in achieving AI goals faster, but this change was not completely as per the wish, recently Mark Zuckerberg has admitted that during the restructuring Meta has made some mistakes.
In an official letter seen by Reuters, Zuckerberg told employees that Meta’s AI transformation has not been perfect and that more mistakes are likely to be made as the company adapts to rapid technological change.

Recall that in May, the company laid off approximately 8,000 employees, about 10 percent of its global workforce, based on approximately 78,000 employees at the end of March, while approximately 7,000 employees were assigned new tasks in AI-related initiatives and workflows. According to the report, this restructuring and change in roles could ultimately affect approximately one-fifth of Meta’s workforce.

This social media company, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is one of those technology companies that are reorganizing their operations according to Artificial Intelligence. The company is also considering the use of AI agents so that the work can be done in the same way as the employees used to do.
What to say about job security?
Zuckerberg tried to reassure employees about job security, saying he did not expect any more layoffs this year, although he cautioned that major changes in the industry are beyond the company’s control.
