
West Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari on Sunday announced that a 125-feet tall statue will be installed in his honor on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee. Besides, many memorable things related to him will also be installed. A memorial and a library related to him will also be built in it.
Speaking at an organizational interaction program with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Dumdum, CM Shubhendu said that the state cabinet has approved these projects as part of the plan to commemorate the birth anniversary of Syama Prasad. “In honor of Shyama Prasad, a 125-feet tall statue along with a memorial and a library will also be built on the land purchased for the purpose,” he said.
Mukherjee’s contribution is important in the formation of Bengal: CM Shubhendu
He said that Shyama Prasad and Swami Pranavananda had played an important role in the formation of West Bengal in the Republic of India during the partition of 1947, but he also alleged that the previous governments had tried to minimize their contribution. He said, “The history of the formation of West Bengal and the role of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Swami Pranavananda cannot be forgotten.”
Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari also announced that June 20 will be celebrated as ‘West Bengal Day’, whereas earlier the state’s foundation day was celebrated on ‘Poila Baisakh’.
BJP is going to set up camps in every block: CM Shubhendu
Emphasizing on his government’s larger vision of ‘navnirman’, Shubhendu claimed that the state has lagged behind in development after “34 years of Left Front and 15 years of Trinamool Congress rule”, and appealed for the participation of the people of the state in rebuilding it.
In order to increase the reach of the people, he announced that on June 15, 16 and 17, public welfare camps will be organized in every block and municipality so that people can get the benefits of government schemes and services.
The Chief Minister official also said that the state is going to officially celebrate ‘International Yoga Day’ for the first time on June 21, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend the main event in Kolkata. Local leaders were instructed to organize programs related to yoga in their respective areas as per the guidelines of the Ministry of AYUSH.
Referring to the civil administration in Bidhannagar, Subhendu Adhikari said that an Additional District Magistrate has been appointed as the Administrator of the Municipal Corporation as a temporary arrangement. He also urged the party workers to work towards ensuring BJP’s victory in the next civic elections.
During this, he also fiercely targeted Trinamool Congress and alleged that its political influence is continuously decreasing. Also, he said that the state is entering a new era focused on development, improvement in governance and historical identity.
