8th Pay Commission: 8th Pay Commission team will gather in Lucknow, big decision will be taken on increase in salary and allowances!

The Eighth Central Pay Commission has announced that it will visit Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on June 22 and 23, 2026, to interact with stakeholders including central government organizations, institutions, unions and associations. According to an official notice issued on May 21, 2026, interested stakeholders who wish to meet the 8th Pay Commission during its Lucknow visit can submit requests for meeting through the prescribed online link given on the official website of the 8th CPC on or before June 10, 2026. The Commission has also asked the applicants to submit the ‘Unique Memo ID’ received after submitting their memorandum on the official website of the 8th Central Pay Commission.

Who can apply?

The notice said that central government organizations, institutions, unions and associations based in Uttar Pradesh, who are interested in interacting with the Commission during this visit, can apply for a meeting. The 8th CPC said in its statement that the details of the meeting venue and the final schedule of the meetings will be shared with the selected stakeholders later.

They were asked to wait

The Commission clarified that separate meetings will be held in other states and union territories in a later phase. Additionally, stakeholders from states and union territories other than Uttar Pradesh have been advised not to request meetings during the visit to Lucknow.

Schedule of 8th CPC meetings for June 2026

The Eighth Central Pay Commission will visit Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir from June 1 to June 4, 2026, to interact with stakeholders. The Eighth Central Pay Commission will visit the Union Territory of Ladakh on June 8, 2026, to interact with stakeholders.

Why is 8th Pay Commission important?

The Eighth Central Pay Commission was constituted by the Government of India to review the pay structure, allowances and pension benefits of central government employees and pensioners. The Commission’s recommendations are expected to affect lakhs of employees and retirees across the country. The 8th Pay Commission has a time limit of 18 months to submit the report of its recommendations.

What is the schedule of 8th Pay Commission?

  • The government has asked the commission to submit its report within 18 months of the issuance of the Terms of Reference (ToR).
  • If there is a delay in submitting the report containing recommendations, the Commission may also submit an interim report.
  • Employees and pensioners are keeping a close eye on possible changes in salary and pension.

What will the 8th Pay Commission consider?

According to the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the 8th CPC released in November 2025, it will consider-

  • India’s economic condition and fiscal discipline
  • Availability of funds for expenditure on welfare and development works
  • Financial burden of pension plans
  • Impact on the finances of state governments
  • Current salary structures in CPSU and private sector
  • Service conditions and benefits to employees in various sectors
